Biography

vistlip is a five member visual kei band that debuted in April 2008 with their mini-album Revolver. The members are: Tomo (Vocals), Yuh (Guitar), Umi (Guitar), Rui (Bass), and Tohya (Drums). They posess a unique sound to them with their wistful melodies, naturalistic lyrics,  and heavenly vocals that can at times sound passionate and flaming. Their musical style offers great variety from sweet sounding ballads to upbeat, heavy rock songs.

The release of Revolver was followed by 3 singles which then led up to the release of their 2nd mini-album, PATRIOT, in 2009. They performed outside Japan for the first time in Helsinki, Finland at the Tsuki-Con convention in October of the same year. Two months later they released their first full-length album entitled Theater. The album sold extremely well domestically, and their international appeal continued to increase. Two of vistlip's singles were used as ending themes for the Japanese anime Yu-Gi-Oh!. -OZONE- was used as the ending theme for Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and Artist was used as the ending theme for Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal.

On July 30, 2010, the band was involved in a car wreck inside the Nagae Tunnel down the Joushin’etsu Expressway in Nagano city. Their car, driven by Tohya, crashed into the tunnel wall around 1:15AM. Asako Sakakibara, the bands manager, was in the backseat when the impact forced her out of the car, resulting in her untimely death. According to highway police, the rest of the passengers sustained minor neck and arm injuries and no other fatalities were reported. After the accident, the band went on hiatus for nearly a year.

On June 1, 2011, vistlip made their comeback with their 7th single, SINDRA, which was then followed by their second album, ORDER MADE, in December. It performed better than its predesessor, reaching #12 on the Oricon charts. A steady stream of singles followed as well as the release of their 3rd mini-album GLOSTER and their 3rd full-length album CHRONUS. In the summer of 2012, Tomo and Rui formed a small side project called 大根団地 (daikondanchi).

2013 came to a close with the release of their SINGLE COLLECTION and their one-man live "Merry Bell" on December 25th. They will release a new single titled Period on April 9th 2014. It will be used as the theme song for the upcoming PSP game 幕末Rock(bakumatsu Rock).
