Biography

Psycho le Cému formed in March 1999 after the disbandment of Daishi's (Vo.) and Lida's (Gt.) previous band MYU. They were joined by Aya (Ex.Isabelle) on guitar, seek (ex.Sculp) on bass and YURA-sama (ex.Sculp and MYU-Roadie) on drums. Early in their career they adopted a colorful visual style influenced by Anime and Cosplay, where each member would represent a certain style/stereotype which they would follow through all of their band career. Their musical style varied between heavier rock in their early releases, lighter pop-rock in the later stages, and occasional dance/electronic-influenced songs. During live perfomances Aya and Yura-sama would sometimes put their instruments down and instead perform dance routines for the audience.

The band released their first demo tape "Self Analysis" in June 1999 and quickly ganied a lot of fans, holding their first one-man concert in November 1999. Their first full album "Doppelganger~もう一人の自分~" which gained them even more attention was released in 2001 and resulted in a live perfomance at the "Sweet Trance Main Stage: 2001 The Space Odyssey" event. After another mini-album they were signed by major label Nippon Crown in 2002. Their major-label single debut 愛の唄 (Ai no uta) reached the 10th spot of the Oricon charts and their first major-label album FRONTIERS was released in 2003. The following two years were height of the career for the band, with live performances at the Beauti-Fool’s Fest ‘04, in the United States and at various popular TV shows. Another full album followed in 2004.

A year later the members decided to focus more on their respective solo projects. During that time, however, Daishi was tested positive for methamphetamine and was arrested by Kanagawa police. The band's merchandise was removed from shelves in Japan and Daishi's solo tour was cancelled. It was announced that the band was to go on hiatus due to Daishi's arrest. In 2009 they had a short revival celebrating the 10th anniversary of the bands formation.
